What to wear....

for those out pounding the pavement again looking for a J-O-B, here's a bit of advice in the new york times regarding what to wear on that next interview. of course, you've got to afford the new suit on your non-salary which sort of presents a problem. maybe you could sew up one of your own, or repurpose a really cool navy suit from your local thrift or goodwill store.

living in the bay area is great. but sometimes, i have a longing for a new york sidewalk during the changing seasons.. i happened upon this artciel: New York tries to create Gardens of Eden on city streets on christian science monitor. the city of new york's is attempting to soften the urban landscape.

while oakland's streets are fairly lovely in some stretches of neighborhoods, i think we could do more like this and create a more comfortable outdoors city. i also liked reading the comments about the article- aside from all the urban gardens throughout oakland- maybe we should have them going down broadway in huge planters. (?) sounds fun.

there are so many street vendors selling obama gear its fabulous! I bought a few buttons, but I think I'm going to have to make my own t-shirt. However, there's an historic optionIs anyone going to buy their Obama-Biden t-shirt? https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/dnc08victoryshirt1?source=20081110_OFA_ND

jr. league artful living home tour in alamo, ca

i spent this saturday, november 8th at the junior league of the oakland- east bay artful living home tour set in alamo and diablo. my friend luke came along with me (he's an interior designer) and it was fun as we traipsed through the various homes.

to be honest, we loved the first home- hands down. it was creative and looked well lived in and in particular there was a little black and white bedroom that was very special- it reminded me of ondine's guest room/office in the almost last episode of top design. i loved it- and i want something like it- especially, especially the wall paper. so, until i have pictures at the home tour- you'll have to make due with this links.

peace out and hope to see you all at the home tour next year!

here it is - a little musing

i wonder if anyone else is watching 3 coins in a fountain on kqed right now? it's a beautiful movie set in italy with one of my favorite actors louis jourdan. anyone seen gigi? i must have burned through the vhs at the video store when i was a kid. anyway, if you haven't already seen three coins, i recommend that you do. it's just fun and ridiculous in an old fifty's movie kind of way where the women are helpless and the men are a little silly.

so, if someone other than myself is reading this, you are probably thinking "another blog?" yes, only, i'm thinking of this more or less as a journal and memory space for my bookmarks. no one actually has to read my blog other than me. it's just that i'd like to have a collection of all the places i visit on the internet. i'm tired of finding a great website at my office computer only to go home and find that i can't find the damn thing on my home computer.

so, pray tell, what am i going to write about, collect, decipher and comment about on this little groupings of postings that should include a little bit more than just fashion? well, let's hope that it's grammatically correct, with proper punctuations and limited typos and misspellings. only, i don't want to have to capitalize because it's takes too long to press the shift button and if my pinky doesn't press down long enough then i get annoyed and have to backspace.

here at my little blogspot i shall ruminate upon my favorite tv shows, radio programs, magazine articles, art exhibits, places visited, etcetera, etcetera, ectetera! i mean doesn't everyone watch gossip girl to see what is being worn?

i love home furnishings, design, textiles, sewing, art, clothing, beautiful gardens, home decor and fashion magazines, lovely music, old movies, i'm sure no one really cares, but again, i'd like to keep all of my bookmarks someplace. you understand.
